CLASSIC: “Illegals,” God and Gospel

Honestly, don’t think we’d ever get tired of this one.  Always found it interesting that the comments were shutdown so quickly.  First of all, that it was posted on bvbl.net was amazing.

Save Us From “Help Save Manassas”

February 27th, 2008 110 comments

‘Help Save Manassas’ has destroyed the real estate market causing many homes to go into foreclosure.  This has caused the whole market to go into a ‘free fall’.  According to the County’s budget report homes have lost on average 16% of their market value.  Unfortunately, this trend doesn’t appear to be rectifying itself anytime soon.  And if that wasn’t enough to cause a budget crunch the County now wants to spend double what they anticipated the cost to be.  All of this when they have only identified an ‘insignificant’ cost attributable to the undocumented population.  They identified approximately 3 million per year but to ‘fix’ the problem will end up costing more than 5 million a year.  And even at that price they haven’t allotted any funds for defending against lawsuits that are sure to arise from the Immigration Resolution.  Ironically it took the board years to research and investigate Parks and Open Spaces but yet only 3 months to enact legislation that appears to be very costly.  More information on the County’s 2009 Budget Proposal can be viewed at http://www.pwcgov.org/docLibrary/PDF/007738.pdf

Budget Debacle

February 27th, 2008 16 comments

According to the County’ s Budget plans we are in for a rough road ahead.  At a minimum, it appears that we are looking at an 8% increase with no money set aside for defending against the lawsuits that are sure arise in defending the ‘Immigration Resolution.’  More info to come.

Hispanics Typically Identifying with Republican Party

February 26th, 2008 3 comments

Well duh.  Don’t know how long that will last though with the current treatment of Hispanics.  Ironically, some PW citizens have claimed that Democrats are pushing for amnesty so that they can increase their voting bloc.  WRONG.  Anyways, the full story can be found here – ‘Hispanic Voters Now The Most Republican Voting Bloc in Virginia?

City of Manassas Approves 287(g) Agreement

February 26th, 2008 22 comments

To clarify, I’m not opposed to the ‘Rule of Law’, but I don’t agree with 20 years of non-enforcement by the Federal government followed by a period of strict enforcement without making some accommodations for those individuals who in many cases have been entrapped by inconsistencies in our immigration policies.

Just a reminder, it’s only post 9/11 that we have required people to adjust their status by returning to their home countries.  But many of these individuals entered our country during a time period where we allowed them to gain work sponsorship after they arrived ILLEGALLY.  However ,now with changes in immigration laws these individuals who were once under the impression that they could adjust their status here have now been told that they must leave and in many cases for extended periods. Many times people have claimed that these people have had enough time to become citizens without the realization that this option hasn’t been offered for many years.  It doesn’t make sense to have these people abandon their homes, have their children lose years of an educational opportunity only to readmit them years from now.  It doesn’t seem to benefit our economy now or in the future and, our inconsistent policies are directly affecting the lives of many including our most vulnerable – US citizen children. Osbourn Teacher Arrested for Sexual Assault

February 26th, 2008 9 comments

Just surprised that this one is even reported on the bvbl.net website.  Typically, the only stories that are deemed newsworthy appear to be those that involve a suspect who is Hispanic.  Otherwise, we usually don’t here diddly squat.  For some reason though, Osbourn High School seems to be of special interest to this blogger.

MJM Letters to the Editor

February 26th, 2008 4 comments

The bully lectures on bullying, oh this should be interesting.

This blog entry is about a letter written in the Manassas Journal Messenger by Ruben Pineda.  While there are many points that I disagree with Mr. Pineda he has a valid point when he states, -“Deny it, but racism has been the reason for many to speak against illegal immigration.”  There have many instances of racist comments especially during Citizens Time often the individuals are wearing a red circle sticker.  Comments that stand out in my mind are as follows:

I don’t like it when a Hispanic can own 9 homes but I can’t own one.

When I drive by a daylabor site, I feel as if the men could jump out into the street and hijack my car at any second.

I feel uncomfortable when a Hispanic man nods his head at me.

Thank God for birth control.

And yes there’s the accusation that they are disease infested, parasites, suitable for dog food …  Well the list goes on and on….

Help Save Manassas(HSM) meeting Wednesday 2/27/08

February 25th, 2008 33 comments

First of all, the name of the organization ‘Help Save Manassas’ along with ‘Help Save Virginia’ names & mission are extremely similar to ‘Save Our State’, a California organization which has ‘white nationalist’ ties.  More information found here.  Ironically, he’s no longer on the payroll for Federation for American Immigration Reform presumably because of his associations to neo-Nazi groups.  Ironically, they have yet to distance themselves from founder and current board member John Tanton who has equally disturbing ties.

Tuesday’s PWBOCS Meeting

February 24th, 2008 18 comments

It will really start to get interesting this coming Tuesday, February 26th when the discussion of the 2009 budget begins. It will be interesting to see how Chairman Stewart proposes to fully fund the resolution without raising taxes and while facing a $51 million shortfall. He has publicly stated that he will not vote for a budget that doesn’t fund the resolution but yet campaigned on not raising taxes.

For those interested, the agenda can be found here –  http://www.pwcgov.org/documents/bocs/agendas/currentagenda.pdf

Also, there is an organization – Prince William Citizens Action Alliance where individuals can participate in sending emails to the Supervisors. Visit PWCAA.com for more information.

Dog For Sale to Bad Owner

February 24th, 2008 2 comments

[Note: Dog's picture changed to protect the innocent but you get the idea.]

According to bvbl.net –

Free to a good home. Excellent Guard Dog.

Owner cannot afford to feed him anymore, as there are no more illegal alien thieves, murderers, or molesters left in the neighborhood for him to eat.

Most of them knew him as ‘Mierda Santa!’

It’s possible that people using a search engine possibly looking for a dog for sale in Prince William County could happen upon the page. To say the least, it’s very disturbing.

Manassas To Adopt Section 287(g) Program Monday

February 23rd, 2008 15 comments

Is it just my perception or do areas like Sudley, Westgate, Irongate and Georgetown have more foreclosures than areas in the City of Manassas?  It’s especially noticeable when comparing Bristoe Station to these other neighborhoods that are located within Prince William County’s limits.  Of course there is the perception that the City of Manassas is more hospitable so it is entirely believable that they are reaping the benefits in terms of their housing market.  But presumably that could all change.  Of course, the City of Manassas are well within their rights to do so, just be forewarned of the impending consequences in their real estate market and budget.

Picking up the Tab

February 22nd, 2008 39 comments

According to ‘a quick admin note’ on the notorious BVBL website, they’re not able to post all of our ‘little pearls of wisdom’ because they are running up the electric bill.  So, how about I pick up the tab? That way nobody has to worry about those pesky bits and bytes and buying hard drives and computers and such as it all sounds so complicated.

Hooray, now we can have a conversation where the only comments excluded are those which are truly obscene.  Otherwise, the lines of communication will remain open!   Americans believe in our First Amendment Right to FREE SPEECH and we do not take kindly to being forceably silenced!  So for all of those those who have been disenfranchised, abused, ignored, or otherwise mistreated; please accept my invitation to join in the conversation.

Hopefully this clears things up for a few folks.
