Picking up the Tab

February 22nd, 2008 admin

According to ‘a quick admin note’ on the notorious BVBL website, they’re not able to post all of our ‘little pearls of wisdom’ because they are running up the electric bill.  So, how about I pick up the tab? That way nobody has to worry about those pesky bits and bytes and buying hard drives and computers and such as it all sounds so complicated.

Hooray, now we can have a conversation where the only comments excluded are those which are truly obscene.  Otherwise, the lines of communication will remain open!   Americans believe in our First Amendment Right to FREE SPEECH and we do not take kindly to being forceably silenced!  So for all of those those who have been disenfranchised, abused, ignored, or otherwise mistreated; please accept my invitation to join in the conversation.

Hopefully this clears things up for a few folks.

YAY! Let’s get some balanced conversation for one. And some articles with comments that don’t bash the disabled, mentally ill, minorities, and religious affiliations. BVBL is passe because of censorship and ignorance.

Yeah, immigration is kinda stale….how about doing something constructive for a change!! And no, BM or whatever you’re called, you didnt run out the alien invaders (aka decent human beings) from pwc, the lack of jobs ran them elsewhere. Of course, now we have a lot of vacant homes to choose from..that’s if anyone wants to move here after the crappy name you all have smeared us with!! great job men!!

I am not real wild about the religious right. Does that silence me on the subject?

Interesting that on SOME blogs in the Manassas area, you had best not say something that the management doesn’t like. If you do, then the message will get shot. If that doesn’t work, the messenger will be shot.

The ‘management’ on SOME blogs in the Manassas area thinks that communists hate opposing views….then procedes to remove those with whom he and the merry band of men (sic) disagree.

It feels very liberating to have a ‘new voice’ after being silenced for so long. I’m encouraged that others are out there that had the same problem that I had. Maybe we can get a real conversation going here. One that isn’t steered in any particular direction.

    Thanks.

This was my response to Greg’s entry regarding why he wasn’t allowed to be participate in the Blog forum moderated by Marc Fisher. Even though no one else could see it, I knew Greg would read it.

Hypocrisy truly abounds on other sites. I too am thrilled to have a new blog to really discuss the complexity of the issues before us.

Interesting that you write” There is potential here for some interesting content in a panel discussion, but you need to keep the communists from trying to stifle opposing viewpoints ” ,as you clearly block opposing views from this blog and don’t even have the courage to inform the writer that you are doing so.

I’m glad to see that the illegal alien apologists, aliens, moonbats, and communists have created your own sandbox. It’s been aggravating to say the least having to tolerate your misguided attempts at public discourse. From reading your dribble for months, I know that you people are clueless about the fundamental tenets of the US Constitution, the rule of law and basic Christian values, that is, the foundation of American democracy. You might have a sandbox, but you won’t have any influence over our elected officials. They know what will happen if they go against the will of the people. You can do and say whatever you want, but you will never have an real political influence. No matter how many people or clergy sign your letters, the elected officials know who gave them their jobs. They’re not afraid of you. They are afraid of US. They will always vote with us because they know they will lose their jobs if they don’t. I represent the true voice of the people of Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. You do not.

Well now, instilling fear is not everyone’s objective. If that is the only way one thinks that political influence is gained, I fear they have been sadly led astray. Fear and angry rhetoric might create some temporary sentationalism but hardly ever result in lasting change.

Western Christain values are not focused on hate, control and intolerance and it is sad to see that slammed in there as a weak attempt of justification of actions. By the way, Jefferson rejected christianity and was a deist. Hamilton, Franklin, John Adams and James Madison were also deist. Deism was so prevalant at the time the Consitution was written that is almost certain that was the basis of the first amendment.

One has to make their own peace with their Almighty. Good luck.

Pride goeth before a fall. Soon the fools will see that the emperor of Prince William has no clothes. Nice heist. We are glad you could pull it off once. Do not expect it to happen twice. It wont. Already the people of the county are laughing…

I watched that Committee of 100 blog session; all one hour and thirty-six minutes. It is available on you tube. I did read the BVBL version of what happened then watched the video. BVBL was more the elephant in the room than anything else and it did draw quite a bit of snickering.

I am wondering how long it will take people to finally figure Greg out. I mean what kind of vicious soul would post this commentary with a picture of this beautiful bull mastif:

“Owner cannot afford to feed him anymore, as there are no more illegal alien thieves, murderers, or molesters left in the neighborhood for him to eat.”

All I can think about is the civil rights movement when dogs were used to brutalize blacks and anyone else that dare join their cause for equal rights.

I do not deny that there are issues that revolve around immigration, ones that will require thoughtful solutions. I do empathize with people who have seen their neighborhoods demographics change in a short period of time, but villifying an entire sect of people is not the answer. It is amazing to me that the same people, i.e HSM members, bragging about how their was a grand exodus happening of “illegals” and “illegal sympathizers” are the same ones complaining of vacant houses and a huge increase in forclosures in neighborhoods that they said had been “invaded”. Do you want these “parasites” to leave or not. Which is it? I firmly believe these non partisan organziations have it right when they say the real cost come when you force all these immigrants to leave, whether they are here without proper documentation or leave because they are afraid of the vicious overtones this debate has taken, even is they are here “legally”.

P.S. Nice to “see” you One Voice. I think people should be judged by their company and I am glad to ben in the land of the banished with you! I look foward “antibvbl” growing with more people finding a place to have civil discourse, even when we don’t agree.

Hello! Thank you so much for starting this blog. I, too, have been banished from bvbl. Don’t know why….I assume it’s because I latch onto racist comments and don’t let them go.

I was astounded by Greg’s comment about Communists silencing voices they don’t like, apparently without any self-awareness of his own hypocrisy.

I am also horrified by that dog post, and can’t believe that no one who is visible questioned the ethics of saying such a thing. I posted a question there, even though I knew I’d be the only one to see it….Why do they think it’s ok to talk about immigrants like that? Was it ok to talk about blacks in that way?

To Greg’s post here at 7:09: HA HA HA. What real political influence do you have? Is that why Tim Kaine won his last election, and McKain and Obama are the apparent presidential nominees? So you think politicians should be influenced by fear? Fear of being smeared by people who are obsessed with illegal immigrants?

Thankfully there are elected officials who care about human worth and dignity. Yes, we have to solve the problem of illegal immigration, but not by dehumanizing a whole class of people.

I am grateful to whomever has started this. I’m happy to leave those bvbl-ers to stew on and on in their angry little juices. I might continue to check in occasionally to be reminded of the kind of societal attitudes I am committed to fighting against.

  21. February 24th, 2008 at 02:01 | #21

Glad to see you’re enjoying the reunion of rejects. You people are pathetic and humorless. The dog posting was a joke. Just like this site. You take yourselves way too seriously and you are out of touch with reality. The only hatred I see in the county comes from you people. You hate me and men of greatness like Corey Stewart and John Stirrup. We can’t turn back the criminal invasion of this country. There are too many of them living amongst us breeding and mixing in. But if America is going down, let’s go out fighting instead of handing over the keys to our house to the invaders. You are moonbatty enough to believe “diversity” is necessarily good. I can tell you that’s a sad misreading of the civil rights movement. That movement was about injustice, not about “diversity.” Having to deal with criminal aliens in my neighborhood is an instance of injustice. I am certain that Dr. Martin Luther King would have stood with me, Corey Stewart and John Stirrup.

This is the irony of the whole thing, just because we don’t agree we don’t immediatly jump to hate. I have disagreed with just about everything Corey Stewart has done, I don’t come close to hating him. Not even close.

Regarding MLK, I am sure he would stand next to you, simply to prove his tolerance of all kinds and the persistant belief he had in all people. Then again, he did have enough sense to know when quitting wasn’t losing…..

Glad that dog posting went to SPLC. We need to involve them in what is going on here in PWC. Speaking of dogs, why are we being dogged or stalked by a very unhappy man? Thought there was already a nice sandbox for that ilk?

My personal opinion is that the localities should take on what they can control and afford. Zoning violations, overcrowding those issues should be addressed expeditiously and persitantly regardless of neighborhood; this should have been happening all along.

Not sure what I think about John Stirrups proposal on procurement; there is an entire chapter in the state code (43) about it. However, he makes a valid point. Employment is the second area localities should and can afford to address – localities should screen for employers violating IRS laws.

Now asking six 100 year old people for their legal status in order to receive food seems a bit over the top as does denying teens subtance abuse treatment.

Regarding Health Clinics, I think it’s best to protect our society from disease; the fact that illegals should not be here does not address any spread of TB or other disease. I for one would prefer that we have a disease free society regardless of the expense.

Entry into the US should be legal – no doubt about it. Until that can be addressed localities need to continue to do what they can to make their communities safer, attract economic development and maintain a quality of life as requested by the members of the community. These thing can and should be done without targeting individuals.

There is a right way to handle this.

I am just wondering why Jesus and Ghandi were left off the list of men of greatness. I am sure they would have wanted to be part of the action, along with Martin Luther King. Just think! The opportunity to stand with Corey, John, and Greg.

    OFF topic:

When will the vote on Silver Lake take place? Why have the BOCS not decided what to do with this property after this long?

  28. independent thinker
    February 24th, 2008 at 11:39 | #28

    Hi Moon-howler,

As yet, the BOCS has not determined what will happen to Silver Lake. A great website to get the real facts on the Open Space Plan and Silver Lake is http://www.pwconserve.org . The Board won’t vote on Silver Lake until they finalize the Open Space Plan. It is really outrageous how backwards this county is. They have an opportunity to double the size of Silver Lake Park, avoid the tax burden for citizens if Bull Run Conservancy has joint control with the county. It is amazing to me that a county, facing a huge fiscal mess, would throw away FREE land. It will be imperative that citizens show up Tuesday night and demand some quality forward thinking ideas for how to ensure that the generations to come will have quality open space and parks.

  29. Moon-howler
    February 24th, 2008 at 13:32 | #29

I fear that parks are far down the list behind things like immigration that we will be closing parks not moving forward. Everything I’ve heard is that the future plans are all cancelled or on hold while we in PWC solve the problem of 12,000,000 illegal immigrants that are here or might come here. We are solving the problem for the whole USA. If we limited our scope to what we in PWC can control it might be different. But, we are making a statement and making a name for ourselves all at our expense…. Such a flip flop; now conservative spending efforts focused on manageable outcomes is the cry of illegal alien supporters.

Independent Thinker, thank you for sending the dog posting to SPLC. When Greg starts exerting the political influence he described, it will be useful to share this with the greater public. I think it speaks for itself.

I’m not sure that was really Greg posting at 2:01 a.m. It was too satirical….great men like Corey Stewart and John Stirrup? Please.
He also wrote, “You take yourselves way too seriously and you are out of touch with reality.” But then again, he has already demonstrated a lack of self-awareness.

There were very interesting articles in the Outlook section of today’s Wash Post about evangelicals supporting the Democrats, and a particularly interesting one about Hispanic evangelicals, who are extremely conservative on social issues, caught between a rock and a hard place, as they are stunned by the hatred displayed by the GOP. It will be an interesting election.

  33. independent thinker
    February 24th, 2008 at 22:22 | #33

Yes, I agree Charlotte. People like Greg clearly do not realize that hispanics tend to be fairly conservative on social issues, i.e, the huge popularity with George Bush and his compassionate conservative blather from hispanics.

  34. Moon-howler
    February 24th, 2008 at 23:47 | #34

I think Juturna is saying something very signficant and useful down the line. We have “conservatives” spending money we do not have on outcomes they cannot control. No one wants to hear this on some other blogs that shall go unnamed because the reality of the waste conflicts with the mission.

When the general population of PW CO realizes what some of these ‘leaders’ have done to our local economy, just to win a elections, they will likely run them out of town.

Thank you for putting up this site. Greg banned me long ago, becuase I was fighting for La Raza and Mexicans without borders. I am not a communist. I am a socialist, fighting for the rights of the workers and the latino people. I beleive that we should have open borders and let Latinos come across the borders like neighbors and stop treating us like invaders. Half of your country really belongs to us. We want it back. Let our societies integrate and we will be one people eventually. Better to do it the peaceful way. If we decide to take it back we won’t stop at Aztlan, we will take the whole thing! Stewart and Stirrup and Greg need to understand that they are 20 years too late. The next president will grant the ammnesty, just like in the 1980’s. This is how I came to this country.

    February 26th, 2008 at 23:03 | #36

Well, Guadalupe, first of all, “amnesty” is the term that the anti-immigrant folks use. We prefer “earned legalization”, which implies that people have earned the right to legalization. Blanket amnesty is just not going to happen. You need to be realistic.
