The Board will have both a 2:oopm & 7:30pm session tomorrow; hopefully starting tomorrow the County can get back to normal business. Does anyone foresee that happening?

Here’s the agenda for the meeting.

9 Thoughts to “PWCBOS 05/06/08 Meeting”

I hope that doenst happen……we need to hold their feet to the fire..The BOCS continues to run over citizens’ rights……one thing that does trouble me immensely is the ICE report that PWC is way ahead of schedule…..lots more deportees than anticipated……I would deearly like to know who all these hardened criminals are!! And what they did to put them in the deportation track….of course they must go before an Immigration Judge……….that takes time….and who knows what their criteria are? Anyone know anything about tihis?

    KR,

They crossed our border ILLEGALLY! Man, can’t you comprehend that simple fact?

Item #9 (public hearing) looks good…PWC will now attempt to recover through liens public monies spent securing unsafe structures.

Oh my, so now you don’t even want to send the criminals (and by that I mean people that have committed a crime OTHER than just being in the states without papers) back? This kind of rhetoric is exactly what flames up the other side. People like Juturna, Elena and their friends are using common sense to come up with solutions where people can live their lives in relative peace.

When you say things like you said above, that even sending criminals back has the appearance of being a violation of rights, you make the situation worse. So now even Charlie Deane and the jail are out to deport people for no good reason? After all they’ve done, you’d think you’d give Deane the benefit of a doubt that the people they turned over for deportation were legitimate cases.

If you want to know who they are, go look up their cases.

    bybvbl,

The issue I would have with 9-A is that it’s great for those that believe the government can use the power of imminent domain anytime it wants to transform a persons property based on a community complaint and then charge the owner of the property.

If a house has been abandoned, sure but while the dwelling is owned and occupied why should any citizen of this country agree to actors of the government coming on to thier property and ‘fixing’ it. This smacks of a nanny nation whereby the government tells you what’s good for you and you have to accept it. It’s a liberal’s dream.

Anchor Baby, it appears as though there have been quite a few rewrites/revisions and since it’s advertized as a public hearing, there’ll likely be more. The part that I applaud is the effort to recoup some money for work the county ends up having to perform. You’re right that there are certainly issues to consider if someone is living in the house/structure. There’ll probably be appeals processes, court challenges, etc. to come in some cases. I think the BOCS has visions of tall grass and vacant houses in mind.

    bybvbl,

Looking at the current version it doesn’t look to bad. Obviously if language is introduced that impacts a citizens personal property rights it’ll be challanged fairly quickly. I don’t think people here will stand for a New London (Kelo v. City of New London).

KENNETH SAID NOT SCREAMED……AND what dont you comprehend about 12 million people? That is hows many are here and we need some more practical solution than start trynig to deport all of them!! They ARE here and we need to deal with the matter. Hardened criminals….throw the book at them…..BUT they would be in jail irrespective of the resolution. The resolution is a lot of nonsense….political hype developed by an anti-immigration group downtown and brought to us by two of their lackeys….Stewart and Stirrup…..that IS what i comprehend!!!

KENNETH SAID NOT SCREAMED – Who said anything about hardened criminals? I am being cynical here….if they are hardened criminals – no they shouldnt be deported if they committed major crimes here…..they should be thrown ni our jails for a long long time and then deported…….the people who have been arresested would have been arrested for something else……my guess is that most of them were trivial offenses…..and if not…..throw the book at them……is that clear????? i think Deane has nothing to say as to what ICE does with them…..
