This is a first draft to which I hope others in the community will contribute. I reserve the right to amend my beliefs as new ideas and new information are presented. I invite everyone to share what they “believe” regarding immigration, and /or, the rising tide of extremism.

* I believe in the words of John Locke:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights”.

* I believe, that immigration, has throughout our history, and will remain, a very contentious issue

* I believe, that we have a broken immigration system that needs modern reform

* I believe, our government has a responsibility to mandate that the people who live or work here, acquire proper legal status

* I believe, the solutions must stem from fiscal responsibility (not analysis based on fear but on solid objective sources), they must be humane, and they must be reasonably enforceable, and above all, they must exemplify the true meaning of a nation built upon immigrants

* I believe, that how we frame the debate, with the words we choose, is as important as the solutions themselves

* I believe, that we are experiencing, as a nation, a time when division has once again reared its ugly head

* I believe, that certain localities, more than others in this nation, are struggling under a rapid changing demographic and that the local, state, and federal government could do more to address the concerns of those citizens

* I believe, that I do not know all the answers to immigration, but I do know, that framing the debate with fear and hate, will bring us no productive solutions

    An eroded cliff in large part caused by the huge amount of illegal aliens that were and still are living in our county. The majority of this county’s budget goes to education. 3 and 4 families living in a home are certainly not paying their fair share of the taxes that cover our roads, law enforcement, our county’s infrastructure, educating the children of illegal aliens, paying for the health and social services for illegal aliens, paying for the free breakfast and lunch for illegal aliens in the schools, paying increased auto and medical insurance premiums because of illegal aliens, paying for Zoning to make sure the neighborhoods denigrated by the illegal alien boarding houses are cleaned up. I could go on. Every facet of our lives are effected by the costs taxpayers pay because of illegal aliens.

    And by the way, note that Mando and I aren’t talking about Hispanics, we are talking about illegal aliens.

    And people who complain about Hispanics peeing etc. are complaining about HISPANICS (see previous posts).

    Last I checked, you can’t determine citizen status by pee scent. But maybe I just don’t stoop so low to the ground that am pee sniffing.

    Only if you obsess over it. Every one of us pays taxes for something which we do not use. I’ve never had children in PWC schools but the biggest chunk of my tax dollar goes there. Would you be willing to allow illegal immigrants to have a form of valid driver’s license? If not, don’t gripe about the cost to your insurance if you’re not willing to add them to the system. I’d rather know that a person has been tested and insured before he or she gets behind the wheel.

    I’ve had to call zoning, NS, Animal Control, the police, Weights and Measures – all because of white US citizens.

    Did your dog actually catch the ‘intruder?’ Was it day or night? And, if your dog did not cacth the intruder, but simply chased him away how in the hell would you know he/she was a white native PWC native? You, my friend, sound almost like a racist!

    TDB, your reading comprehension is lacking. I said a form of driver’s license. It doesn’t have to be the same one residents have. It can be a means of verifying ID and knowledge of rules of the road.

    LOL! From my window I saw the white woman on my deck fiddling with my back door lock. My dog’s barking – he was in the room where the door was – ran her off. I even know where she lived – a few doors away. She was a neighborhood druggie. Let’s see what more info can I provide to you. She was white – blonde hair (probably bleached) and freckled. I had met her while walking one day.

    What’s the penalty these days for being an American and speaking English? Surely there must be a law against being pro-American. I know we suffer more for breaking laws such as driving without a license and such. We’re even forced to pay for our medical treatments and child birth. I guess I was born on the wrong side of the border to get the freebies.

Here is my question for you, tell me how you tell the hispanics from the illegals? How are you sure you are being fair? Have you ever been wrong?

    Response to selling used tires:

    Most come from vehicles that have been wrecked. If the tires are considered salvageable they are taken off the car at the salvage yards and then advertised for sale as “Used tires” ..

    Welcome TDB,
    Around 40% or so of today’s legal immigrants were at one time ‘illegal’. We have elected officials who were at one time undocumented, they are serving in our armed forces (in fact the first KIA in Iraq was previously ‘illegal’) I believe it has more to do with allowing them the time to assimilate. It’s been the same in generation pasts where the first over doesn’t completely learn the language, the children are bilingual, and the following generations speak only english.
