Attempts to sow seeds of terrorism fear about Obama may have backfired on the McCain Campaign. McCain himself has had to put out a few fires at political rallies where crowds have shouted out, ‘Screw Obama,’ ‘Terrorist,’ ‘Kill him,’ ‘Bomb Obama.’ and other horribly offensive types of language. One woman, as seen in the embedded video said she didn’t trust Obama because he is ‘an Arab.’

To his credit, Senator McCain took the microphone back and told the lady that wasn’t true and issued a few platitudes about Obama. It looks like Senator McCain and Governor Palin are reaping what they have allowed to be sown.

Are character assassination and attempts to associate Senator Obama with former Weather Underground leader turned education professor Bill Ayers going to pay off for The McCain Campaign or does this type of rhetoric just make his campaign look desperate? Has Senator Obama taken the high road?

Lastly, does any of this look vaguely familiar?

As we know all to well in Prince William County, people who indulge in prejudice are all the more sensitive when they are called on it. Their outrage is an act of self-hypnosis, to convince themselves of their own acquittal. What Lewis said is true. Racial intolerance as a political strategy can indirectly lead to violence. Wallace never directly called for violence, but one could argue that some of the violence committed against Blacks and Jews during the Civil Rights Era were the indirect result of his rhetoric and his campaigns.

My read on this is that this is yet another way of tapping in to the sort of resentments that have recently been the cornerstone of the Rove/McCain/Palin campaign. Wait, I shouldn’t say Rove. Karl Rove said that McCain had gone too far two weeks ago. I wonder what he’s thinking now.

Not me, Bubba, I have known Fox News was biased but it has gotten much worse about deliberately passing on misinformation, which is quite another thing. Heretofore, I had not caught them outright lying. Now I have. I hope this clarifies.

This is what I was talking about yesterday. This is a link to a townhall.com column by a Christian a conservative columnist.

El Guapo, you are exactly right. That article was so full of lies it is hard to tell where one stopped and another started. How can anyone claim to be Christian and then make up such horrible misrepresentations of the truth.

I find it amusing that the one ‘offense’ they chose to ignore when evaluating candidates is the one most condemned by religious writings-straight from the 10 commandments. Go figure.

I am so bummed that Saturday Night Live was a re-run last night.

I would love, love, LOVE to see them spoof the the “John McCain Race Sensitivity Training Rallies” with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin contradicting everything John McCain says.

Let’s write a script! I’ll do the first line:

McCain: “My fellow prisoners, I mean Americans, welcome to the John McCain Race Sensitivity Training Rally. I have suspended my campaign to try to get you wackos back in line. You are not, repeat NOT supposed to express open bigotry on TV. Any questions?”

Obama’s policies will only help the rich people.

  7. The nastiest people at the McCain Rally’s are the Obama supporters. I’ve seen firsthand, I didn’t have the filter of the MSM applied to me. How bout you?

And NotGregLetiecq don’t forget the 57 states that Obama has visited.

Hmmm, I wonder why he doesn’t use his Christian name, Barry, instead of his muslim name, Barrack?

  10. Moon-howler

Slowpoke, I assume the name Barak is African. Obama has never been a mulim. On the other hand, would you not vote for someone because they were a mulim?

Most people use their given names rather than nicknames in formal positions.

PWCon, people here have been to campaign rallies. I suppose it depends on what row you sit in. There is some real nasty stuff going down right now.

Yes MH I have to agree. Can you imagine if such slurs were yelled at a staff meeting, a school board meeting, a BOCS meeting? The campaign rally seems to breathe a life of its own. It’s suddenly OKAY to yell hatefull epitaths(sp?) at a campaign rally. Can you imagine how quickly a teacher would be removed from a staff meeting if they yelled out “terrorist!” or “kill him!” the next time some high-paid-never- been- in- a -classroom consultant showed up with a new and improved way to teach math?

  12. Elena

    Hey Slowpoke,
Barack is translated into hebrew, meaning blessed. My name is Elena, which has many different ethnic roots. In Greek it means light. What does Slowpoke stand for, oh, I guess that one is pretty obvious 🙂

Just wondering what “american” name would you support for President? Oh, but there is no “american” name as we are a country of immigrants, so MOST of our names come from other parts of the world, even the biblical ones!

  13. […] even know where he was born!” (Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawai’i.) Last Friday, John McCain was forced to explain to his supporters at a town hall in Minnesota that Obama is indeed…! All of these lies have been designed to question Barack Obama’s right to identify as an […]
