Jon Henke Crusades Against the ‘Fevered Swamp’ Mentality

September 9th, 2009

Jon Henke feels that much of what is reported in the WorldNetDaily is just hideously embarrassing to the Right and is calling on Conservatives with a brain to reject this mentality, which he calls the ‘fevered swamps.’

Jon Henke of The Next Right takes up this crusade and challenges Republicans to veer away from the cyber-tabloid and its fringe lunacy thinking.   Henke calls on Conservatives with a brain to reject this mentality.

An example from WND of what Henke feels is extremely embarrassing can be found at The Next Right:

[T]he Web site Worldnetdaily.com says that the government is considering Nazi-like concentration camps for dissidents. Jerome Corsi, the author of “The Obama Nation,” an anti-Obama book, says that a proposal in Congress “appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany

.”

Jon Henke has some impressive credentials. According to Lowell over at Blue Virginia:

Jon Henke was George Allen’s netroots coordinator, New Media Director for the Republican Communications Office in the U.S. Senate, Online Brand Manager for Fred Thompson’s presidential campaign, and is co-founder of The Next Right.

I welcome Henke’s attempts to bring normalcy back to the Republican Party. Right now, all I can do is laugh. There are many people out there who, like me, aren’t really comfortable with the Democrats but who can’t stop laughing at the fringe lunatics.

It is time for all Republicans and Democrats to engage in honest debate of issues and leave behind conspiracy theories and other wing nut theories if either party is to have any credibility with people of reason.

I applaud Jon Henke for having the courage and integrity to stand up to these tactics. I am convinced that the most valuable Americans in public life today are moderate Republicans who have integrity and courage. I hope this starts a trend.

Witness, those people will just be called Rinos. Look at what happened to McCain. The same thing happens to our local politicians. Look at Marty, Mike May, Wally…it isn’t the Democrats who are continually trashing them. It is from people who call themselves Republicans. I have now even heard Jackson Miller called a rino because he defended education. Now that is a tragedy!

My theory is that eventually moderate Republicans will own the day, if there are any left.

I don’t know what will happen if the Fevered Swamp people continue to dominate. I don’t want to find out.

The party will evolve into irrelevancy and the ‘good’ Republicans will form another party…either that or the ‘good’ Republicans will kick out the tinfoil hat brigade.

Van Jones signs a petition about George Bush and a ridiculous 9-11 government conspiracy and his resignation by the right is seen as the only rememdy. But, the RNC, the HEAD of the republican party appears to be in collusion with the World Net Daily and that’s o.k. ? HUH?????!!!!!

Elena, That actually is the reason I posted this thread. Had it just been about the tinfoil hat brigade, I would have not posted. I have laughed enough the past couple of days.

What caught my eyes and ears was that RNC was feeding these miscreants. I would imagine that mainstream Republicans don’t know and very much would care.

I guess the party feels it needs the TFH brigade for numbers. That’s too bad and yet another reason why I dislike political parties.

    @Elena
Oh, you missed a couple of things….

White environmentalists steering poison into colored communities.
Never see a black kid do a Columbine….they might shoot one another….but NEVER a Columbine!
Republicans are a$$holes. (Can you imagine if people told the truth about Democrats like that?)

They did, Slowpoke, right to their faces. I didn’t blink. No body blinked.

I didn’t hear the entire context of the environmentalists. I did hear the Columbine remark. I need to think about it more. I didn’t feel it was a racist remark because of the context.

Now, do I particularly like Van Jones? No. Probably for many of the same reasons you don’t. I just don’t think he is that important. As for calling someone as asshole….George Bush did it also. He might have been right.

Obama’s regulatory czar thinks pets should be provided lawyers to bring suit against their owners, and you folks are concentrating on this? I’m at least grateful for the laugh!

Oh Dear God, Glenn Beck is hilarious today on the subject of animal rights. I am waiting for him to get offensive but so far he has just made me laugh…hard

I am glad to see this side of him.

I think that is the only way we are ever going to get anything done, Juturna. Let the Tinfoil Hat Brigade talk amongst themselves…both sides. 3 parties? Think that would work? I think Rick is who is opposed…I seem to recall from a long time ago.

If McCain had stuck to his promise to distance himself from that limited part of the Republican Party and not chosen Palin, he would have won. He would have created the third party. Obama won due to the white vote. Here is one white vote that couldn’t go for Palin. I was SOOOOO disappointed by McCain.

Slow, standing by for Backyardigans myself.

Juturna, I agree. He made a very strategic error. When he shore up that base, he lost most of the potentials.

Check out Sarah Palin on ebay. Is it just me or is it supreme arrogance thinking your company is worth $37k?

Seriously, you think there is a difference between any nutty conspiracy theory? What about Obama planning for Nazi concentration camps? THAT isn’t kooky enough to distance the RNC?! It ALL nutty, right extreme AND left extreme!

So, with the reaction to health care for illegal immigrants, I’d say CIR is just around the corner, huh?
