On the floor of the House of Representatives this week, Congressman Alan Grayson, (D-Fl) has his own media show on health care, using 2 story board size prints.  Republicans have called for him to apologize.  So far, like Joe Wilson, that has not happened.  Republicans are said to be drafting a resolution calling out his behavior.

Should he apologize or is this just hyperbole?  Republicans equate his behavior to that of Congressman Joe Wilson.  Did Grayson interrupt anyone?  Is he exaggerating to make his point?  Are the Republicans being thin-skinned?

In another story, Congressman Trent Franks (R-Az), while speaking before the How to Take Back America Conference, called President Obama an ‘enemy of humanity.’

At one point, Franks demanded that Obama release his birth certificate to prove his constitutional eligibility to hold office. The bluntest charge, however, centered on the president’s position on abortion, which the congressman derided as “insane” and godless

He further stated:

“Obama’s first act as president of any consequence, in the middle of a financial meltdown, was to send taxpayers’ money overseas to pay for the killing of unborn children in other countries,” said Frank.[sic] “Now, I got to tell you, if a president will do that, there’s almost nothing that you should be surprised at after that. We shouldn’t be shocked that he does all these other insane things. A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can’t do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity.”

I don’t know. That is pretty rough stuff to be saying about any President of the United States. Does everyone need to reign it in a bit?  Should Franks apologize or does the fact that he was ‘off campus’ mitigate his remarks to some degree?  Are Democrats being too thin skinned?

5 Thoughts to “Congressmen Shoot Off at the Mouth”

This just shows that for all the complaining about Republican’s behaving badly, the Democrats do just the same. There is no difference between the two, unlike what some people would like to have you believe.

I will say, I think his comments were not helpful and sunk to the level of several republicans who have stated on the house floor, that this health care plan will bring death to seniors, only they were being serious not tounge and cheek. One Democrate does not equate to the spin machine on the right, whipping people into a bizarre frenzy, about socialized health care and suggesting seniors are going to be put to death.

  3. Moon-howler

The comments were non-productive. However, how were they worse than discussion of death panels which were outright lies and what Congressman Franks of AZ said about the president?

This guy sounds like he isn’t going to stop.

I got a strange call tonight from some organization telling me of another tea party demonstration tomorrow @ 2 near the Senate Side of the Capital. Americans for prosperity? Strange group. They said they were importing people for the event. Now who admits that?

There’s been plenty of other Democrats spinning things poorly – it is just the liberal press fails to report on it most of the time. The Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans as far as spinning things. Just look back at what they did the last 8 years – there’s lots of examples to draw from. There are not innocents in this. They made plenty of bad remarks too over the past 8 years.
