A would-be abduction was thwarted by a 9 year old boy who pushed his little brother to the ground to keep him from being kidnapped.  The incident happened in an upscale neighborhood in Bristow.  PWC police are urging parents to warn their children and to be on the lookout for  :

The 9-year-old told police the attacker was white, between 40 and 50 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a small silver hoop earring in his right ear and a goatee. He wore a yellow polo shirt with a pocket on the left chest and light blue jeans.

The little brother who is aged 5 is fortunately he has a quick thinking older brother.  This incident in a reminder to all parents that abduction doesn’t just happen in bad neighborhoods.  Abduction can happen anywhere.  According to the News and Messenger:

MANASSAS, Va.—As police searched for a would-be kidnapper Wednesday, a 9-year-old Bristow boy was hailed a hero for saving his 5-year-old brother from the abduction attempt.

Walking home from a friend’s house about 5:30 p.m. Monday, the two boys decided to cut between two homes near the intersection of Noltland Castle Drive and Lennice Way.
A man then approached the two from behind and grabbed the 5-year-old, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

The 9-year-old rushed to his brother’s aid and pushed the younger boy to the ground, effectively freeing him of the would-be abductor’s grasp, said police.

The attacker ran from the scene, and the children ran home.

Those damn white men. No wonder Obama wasn’t calling on them to stand together with him! Why, the prisons are full ………… actually have some white men in them. This is a terrible crime regardless of race, and I’m glad that the police aren’t afraid to mention the person’s race so as to help apprehend him.

Question. “The attacker ran from the scene” Was he planning on picking the boy up and actually running off with him in hopes no one would notice? This doesn’t quite make sense to me. Just noting that this seems odd. Most abductions involve vehicles.

Yet another Question. How many 40 to 50 year old ‘white men’ have you ever seen with a goatee and wearing a hoop earring? I mean the only ones I can think of would also probably be wearing motorcycle gang colors. So, how do we know this guy was ‘white’? He certainly doesn’t match the typical ‘white’ PROFILE. Pretty much goatees went out of style, I don’t know, 30 years ago in this country?

    Um, LOTS?

What color is the sky in your world?

  5. Second-Alamo

Hey Pink, why not address my question in a serious manner. Other than Johnny Depp as Capt. Jack Sparrow I don’t recall seeing a lot of goatees unless I was at a Walmart on a weekend.

  6. @Second-Alamo
I think we come from different worlds, SA. Lots of artists, musicians, and people who are not mainstream wear goatees.

Is there something wrong with Wal-Mart?

Your socio-economic prejudice is coming through here.

  7. I assumed he was white from his description. I profiled him. (or maybe I heard it on the news)

Plenty of older goatee wearers are out there. Some even have mullets.

You sound like you are angry that he is white, SA. Most of us are angry because an abductor was in someone’s neighborhood behaving in such a bold manner.

This story sure blows away the idea that your kids might be safer if you buy in a nice neighborhood.

  8. SA, are you suggesting that perhaps there wasn’t an abduction attempt and that the kid might be just looking for an excuse for having pushed his little brother down?

Stranger things have happened, for sure.

Actually, SA asks some pretty decent questions. Maybe the cops have already been there and we just aren’t privy to the answers.

Thanks MH, at least there are a few that don’t automatically start in with the remarks without giving some thought to ‘serious’ (and I use the term lightly) questions.

I’m not upset if it was a white person. We’re still way ahead of most other races in the area of non-law breaking considering the makeup of the country. I was just commenting that indicating a person’s race to aid apprehension isn’t racist, and shouldn’t be viewed that way either.

  10. It does seem like an odd story with the perp running off in an area like that. Where did he run to? Was there a vehicle parked around the corner?

Actually MH, your reply #7 is the exact reason I was trying to make back when the border crossers were somehow moving into the neighborhoods they truly couldn’t afford. Illegal immigration coupled with the ‘no down payment’ mortgage loans created this: “This story sure blows away the idea that your kids might be safer if you buy in a nice neighborhood.” Don’t you think Arizona may be experiencing the same thing?

  12. SA, I sat on my hands before I responded to this comment: “I’m not upset if it was a white person. We’re still way ahead of most other races in the area of non-law breaking considering the makeup of the country.”

Considering things like WWII, Stalin, Viet Nam, the FBI raids on Native Americans–even going back to the Crusades–how can you say we are way ahead of other races? We kill people en masse. I haven’t even addressed the white collar criminals who have pillaged our country, or the white people employing illegal immigrants. These are all crimes committed by white people, and on a grand scale.

I’m not indicting white people here. I am addressing your comment, however.
