McDonnell signs redistricting maps

May 1st, 2011

Governor McDonnell has signed the state redistricting maps.  Now everyone has the supreme pleasure of locating their house district and their senate district.  For those of us in Prince William County, it might take until election day to figure out our state senate district.

It used to be a fairly simple matter.  Most of us were in the 29 and Senator Colgan was the man.  Not so now.  I believe that Prince William might be cut into 5 separate senate districts.  I am actually not really sure.  I think I am still in the 29. PWC now has some parts in the 13th, 28th, 33rd, and 39th.  There might be one other I haven’t spotted yet.

Give it your best shot at Vpap.org.

What are they thinking???  How can one county get cut in to 5 parts?  Do we have nothing in common as a county?  I guess someone sure showed us!

    Moon, did I miss something or are you now represented by Bob Marshall?

    @IVAN
    Both Moon and I are the 13 HOD=Boob Marshall, and we stay in the 29th Senate district.

    I can’t believe a county our size has been so cut up. Things have certainly changed. I think it’ll be interesting to see the Senate candidates in the county, especially in the 13th Senate district. There’s a few potential candidates in the new district. Oh, let the games begin!

    @Ivan, yes. I believe I am which means I have no representation. Maybe he won’t find his new constituents as willing to keep voting his sorry ass back into office. He will not get a vote from my house. Mr. Howler has a long memory also. Mr. Marshall likes to silence those with big mouths by physically challenging their spouse.

    I would like to see a Prince William Map with the new senate districts on IT rather than the districts overlying Prince Wm. Co. What a mess. I have never heard of something like this happening.

    @Moon and Laf
    At least you won’t have to worry about getting phone calls from Jackson Miller or “action alert” e-mails about Miller campaign rallies disguised as revivals or “town hall” meetings involving KK’s or other serious threats to our community.

      @Ivan, actually, I think I prefer Action Jackson alerts to anything Marshall could send out.

    Whomever drew up the Senatorial maps gave a big fat middle finger to PWC.

    I KNOW I would much rather have Jackson representing us than Marshall.

    You are right, Moon. I don’t believe the new turf Marshall picked up is as heavy R as those that have sent him to Richmond, time and time again. I just don’t view Marshall has someone that can be civilized when dealing/talking to people. Let’s not forget the stupid a$$ crap he spewed to Elena within the last few months. He’s radical Republican like none other.(imo)

    I think he’d be better than Marshall!

    Moon, 5 Senate, 8 House.

    Senate is 13th, 28th (Stuart), 29th (Colgan), 36th (Puller) and 39th Barker). the 13th is the interesting one since it currently is most of the Eastern Shore (Sen. Quayle), and got shifted to the Mountains.

    House is 2nd (Phillips), 13th (Marshall), 31st (Lingamfelter), 40th (Hugo), 50th (Miller), 51st (Anderson), 52nd (Torian), and one PWC Precinct stuck in the 87th (currently Paula Miller in Norfolk – but another one that got shifted). Aside from the 87th, the new slice there is Hugo out of Fairfax. We always did have that piece of the 2nd down southside PWC.

    When you go to the VA Redistricting Website, they have full listings by precincts folks can wander down through: http://redistricting.dls.virginia.gov/2010/RedistrictingPlans.aspx
