Now here is an enlightened kinda guy. When are the Republicans going to tell clowns like this to go away?

Surely Ben Carson isn’t a serious candidate?

65 Thoughts to “Ben Carson enters the presidential race–seeing is believing”

  1. Wolve

When will the Dems tell that clown Hillary Clinton to go away?

  2. Lyssa

“You can make the unemployment rate anything you want it to be”….. Great opener.

Wolve really? That’s your best? There’s so much to work with here 🙂

  3. Rick Bentley

This guy is the dumb-f*** of all dumb-f***s. Even by GOP standards.

  4. Rick Bentley

The GOP nominees frequently look like a circus clown car pantomime … and this guy is the king clown.

  5. 15 have tumbled out so far. I don’t think all are clowns but pretty close.

This guy really is the king of the clowns, so far, now Michele Bachman is not in the picture.

  6. Cargosquid

All I can say is…. Welcome to the fight. So far, as a candidate, he’s a good surgeon.

Personally, I don’t think he’s ready for that office, but he does have some good messages.

Surgeon General should be open when President Walker takes office.

    1. Not sure we need a good surgeon as president. I hope he changes his tune. He sounds like a fool.

  7. Kelly_3406

You surely know this, but the guy was a brilliant surgeon who revolutionized surgery for conjoined twins. You might want to show a little respect. Unlike Hillary and Obama, his life’s work truly benefitted the world.

He has not learned to hide his true thoughts and feelings like professional politicians do.

    1. Why should he be shown respect over the others? In my opinion, he should have stuck with being a doctor.

I could make the same argument for Hillary. She has given women and little girls all over the world aspiration.

  8. Rick Bentley

“I don’t think all are clowns but pretty close.”

Bush and Rubio are electable. Am i forgetting any of the orthers?

Huckabee is my pet peeve. He talks down to his audience as if they were retarded. He seems to be working to coalesce the slow adult vote. He’s abhorrently manipulative and anti-intellectual, but in a way so out of touch with reality that it’s almost funny. AMERICA IS NOT THAT DUMB. Not even Red State America.

  9. Rick Bentley

I don’t know any reason that Carly Fiorina couldn’t be elected, though one may emerge.

  10. Rick Bentley

Carson – really, really dumb guy
Christie – abject joke. Would have been impeached in most states.
    Cruz – strutting charicature
Huckabee – out of touch with reality
Jindal – has no innate quality that makes him electable, other than non-white skin
Rand Paul – an interesting guy, who may manage to transform the Republican party and maybe someday get its nomination. But they’re certainly not ready for him in 2016.
Walker – probably not ready for prime time. And I think his anti-union message would get trounced in an election against Clinton, or more likely Warren.

  11. blue

The reason Carson is politically famous is because he pricked Obams’s messiah bubble and did it right in front of him. The guy has the guts, the brains and the chutzpah and I believe he made it possible and began the worse than Carter narrative on just about everything and, most importantly, as Obama has affected race relations generally and the balck community specifically. He has already changed the Country by being an effective advocate for equality of opportunity rather than the socialist outcome, the family and for a strong moral code, all things Democrats hate.

  12. punchak

    @Rick Bentley
Megyn Kelly gave Huckabee her whole hour tonight.
I try to picture him at the conference table with world
    leaders / Just doesn’t work.

  13. punchak

    @Rick Bentley
Don’t you mean “I don’t know any reason that Carly Fiorina COULD be

  14. Jackson Bills

I must say I’m highly disappointed in some here with this…

    “Dumb fuck”?

Show some fucking respect. Disagree with his politics all you want; hell I even disagree with some of his views and no he is not a viable candidate. That being said the names this man is being called on this blog is both disgusting and honestly disturbing and yes… racist. Calling a black man a clown and dumb fuck is a dog whisle if I’ve ever heard one.

He is a black man born in Detriot 1951 to an illiterate mother who became a single mother raising him at age 8. He attended Southwestern High School in Southwest Detroit where he joined the JROT and was offered an appointment to West Piont. He graduated from Yale University, where he majored in psychology and received his M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School.

He ended up becoming on of the nations most renowned pediatric neurosurgeons. What a “clown”, right? Such a “dumb fuck”? How sad… Disagree with the guy but that shit is just gross and/or boarder line racist.

  15. Wolve

    Just make Hillary go away.

We want Bernie! Bernie for President!

  16. Rick Bentley

Regardless of his race … regardless of his degrees … he is a very dumb f*** IMO.

He has a college education, and believes homosexuality is a choice because people go to prison straight and come out “gay”?

He’s black, and compares Obamacare to slavery?

I call them like I see them. He’s borderline retarded.

  17. @blue

I think in order for Obama to be pricked, he has to be aware of it.

I think your world view is just different. Obama is not a socialist. Not even close.

Since he isn’t running for office, it really doesn’t matter what Carson thinks of him.

  18. @punchak

It really doesn’t. I used to not dislike him. I grew to.

  19. @Jackson Bills

I am not sure you really understand racisim. Let’s have that discussion. Why is calling Carson a “clown” racist? I think at some point I have called a lot of them clowns.

The list of who isn’t a clown is a lot shorter.

Carson doesn’t deserve my respect. I don’t respect degrees to start with. Who cares. Some of the biggest jerks in life have advanced degrees.

He says Obama care is as bad as slavery. Do you consider that an intelligent statement?

He also said that homosexuality is acquired rather than something one is born with. The example he gave is that people go to prison straight and come out gay. They do??

For all those degrees you all talk about, you would think he would be smarter.

I just saw Rick’s response, after I wrote mine. Strange. I agree with Rick.

  20. Let’s make the non-clown list:

    1, Jeb Bush

    2. Rubio

    3. This is getting tough…..

  21. Wolve

Bernie all the way!! Better a real socialist than a bunch of silly Dem wannabes! Go for the real thing!

    1. You are certainly free to vote for Bernie.

I just don’t see the “bunch of dems” you are referring to.

This presidential election is boring me already.

  22. Wolve

I’ll bet Dr. Ben Carson is waaaaaay smarter than Mr. Bentley.

    1. It sounds like you have a lot in common with my father who had a great reverence for physicians.

How would you judge this “smartness?” Would you ask Mr. Bentley to perform surgery or would you give each a new task to see who did it better?

  23. Wolve

In fact, I’ll suggest that Dr. Ben Carson is waaaaaay smarter than anyone on this blog, without exception. Imagine having the neurological knowledge, the skill, and the nerves of steel to take a scalpel and successfully separate two babies joined at the head and to thereby set an international pathway for future medical miracles.

    1. That is a skill set. Obviously you don’t believe in multiple intelligences. There are also people who are very book smart. Then there are athletes. It isn’t all just athletic ability but also the power to analyze and strategize.

I am not one of those who bows down to doctors. I think that was another generation. I expect that there are people on this blog just as smart as Ben carson, perhaps not in neurosurgery but just as smart.

  24. Ed Myers

One can be smart in medicine and dumb in politics or dumb on the basketball court or dumb about human relationships. Smart and Dumb are not all-encompassing descriptors.

I think he is pandering to get attention. He is following the route that Trump took using the birther meme just for national attention. He realizes he has something unique (his race) that the Republicans may need later in the election cycle and meanwhile he gets to feed his ego by getting in the news. Herman Cain all over again.

  25. Ed Myers

@Wolve: Bentley might just invite Carson to a hackathon. I bet Carson isn’t so smart when it comes to slinging code.

  26. Scout

Carson has a very impressive life story. He seems to be a most admirable man. Whether any of this translates into governance ability is much less clear. On the other hand, national politics is often marred by lots of people on ego trips who have never done anything of significance outside politics. I have an instinctive aversion to those types. Dr. Carson has distinguished himself in other fields – very demanding fields at that. I’d rather see more people like him or Fiorina and fewer people like, say, Rubio, who appear to be just career pols.

I do think, however, that Carson should run for Congress or the state legislature first if he is intent on developing his public service career.

    1. He also needs to stop making inflammatory, stupid remarks. I am failing to see his as a rising star.

Lots of people have distinguished careers that don’t actually qualify them for public office.

I am totally convinced that any at the state or national level who runs for office is basically a whore. Too much money is needed to get elected and both parties require a narrowly interpreted adherence to party line.

  27. Rick Bentley

“I mean, [America is] very much like Nazi Germany. And I know you’re not supposed to say ‘Nazi Germany,’ but I don’t care about political correctness. You know, you had a government using its tools to intimidate the population. We now live in a society where people are afraid to say what they actually believe.”
~Ben Carson, telling Breitbart News how America is like Nazi Germany because of liberals, March 2014. (Note the irony of Carson saying whatever stupid s*** he wants, then complaining about curtailed speech).

“I think what’s happening with the veterans is a gift from God to show us what happens when you take layers and layers of bureaucracy and place them between the patients and the health care provider. And if we can’t get it right, with the relatively small number of veterans, how in the world are you going to do it with the entire population?”
~Ben Carson, describing the VA scandal as a gift from god, Memorial Day Weekend 2014

“Certainly there’s the potential because you have to recognize that we have a rapidly increasing national debt, a very unstable financial foundation, and you have all these things going on like the ISIS crisis that could very rapidly change things that are going on in our nation. And unless we begin to deal with these things in a comprehensive way and in a logical way there is no telling what could happen in just a couple of years.”
~Ben Carson, telling Fox News that President Obama might declare martial law and cancel the 2016 Election so he can continue being president, September 2014.

“I think most people when they finish that course, they’d be ready to go sign up for ISIS.”
~Ben Carson, claiming the AP History curriculum will cause students who learn about civil disobedience in this country to join a violent terrorist group, September 2014.

    1. Rick, why are we supposed to respect this guy? He says really stupid things. The VA is probably this country’s bigger health care system. It has to be bigger than Medicare, just looking at the age range it covers.

  28. Rick Bentley

Bona fide conservative commentator talks about how stupid Carson’s remarks are –

More quotes from this ignorant, paranoic, America-hating, unbalanced dumb f*** :

Carson on similarities between the Founding Fathers, who were “willing to die for what they believed,” and ISIS: “They’ve [ISIS] got the wrong philosophy, but they’re willing to die for what they believe, while we’re busily giving away every value and every belief for the sake of political correctness.”

On the importance of the GOP winning the Senate in 2014: In August, Carson said he couldn’t be sure “there will even be an election in 2016” if Republicans didn’t go on to win that fall. (His wife also said they were keeping their son’s Australian passport handy if the election didn’t go their way.)

  29. Rick Bentley

Nobody’s been talking like this since Pat Robertson. Carson is filling a void.

  30. Rick Bentley

Anyway, “tolerance” of other people’s choices in here to say. The “values and beliefs” of intolerance and Old testament law that Carson wishes for are long dead. The world has changed. Obamacare, ostensibly the worst American sin since slavery, isn’t going anywhere either.

The man would, I surmise from his own statements, be happier working for ISIS. I would not be entirely surprised if he goes and joins up some day. I hope the NSA is keeping watch on the guy.

    1. He has a right to say what he wants. I have a right to say he is incredibly stupid. I don’t think race has a thing to do with it. I would say he says stupid things regardless of his race.

Jackson, do you think what he is saying is smart? Are we to allow black folks to say stupid things and not comment because they are black?

  31. blue

    “Obama is not a socialist.”

    Now that’s funny.

  32. blue

“Are we to allow black folks to say stupid things and not comment because they are black?”

    1. You laugh but have no answer, Blue.

  33. Wolve

And then we have poor “Lunch Bucket Joe.” That fellow has served many years in the Senate trenches and is near to completing two Veep terms of taking his “Gaffe-A-Day Circus” on the road in support of every silly domestic and foreign policy cooked up by the Obama White House. “Lunch Bucket Joe” has wanted for a long time to be President of the United States and surely still thinks he deserves a real shot at it. But, alas, Joe has been shafted again. He was born with the wrong sex organs.

I have an idea, Joe. Transgender real quick. “Hi there! My name is Josephine Biden, and I am running for President!”

    1. What does he have to do with this conversation?

      Deflection alert.

  34. Wolve

Ben Carson’s problem is that he is too smart for the liberals. They don’t like it one bit when a thinking Black man forgets his place, gets uppity, and insists on leaving the Democratic party reservation.

    1. Do you seriously call that “thinking?”

I have rarely heard people make such real dumb ass statements. If he is thinking, then it is staying in his brain and not coming out of his mouth.

That must be it, too smart for liberals. How about the conservatives that are laughing?

  35. Jackson Bills

    Wolve :
Ben Carson’s problem is that he is too smart for the liberals. They don’t like it one bit when a thinking Black man forgets his place, gets uppity, and insists on leaving the Democratic party reservation.

If one gets off the dem plantation then it’s time to take him out. Exhibit A; names Dr. Ben Carson had been called here so far. I was once scolded for calling President Obama by his FULL name. God forbid you call him Barak Hussein Obama because that’s a dog whistle/racist or what ever the F.

But if a black man who overcame the impossible (and who had it 100x’s harder than Barry) doesn’t keep in line than ridicule him and tear him down. It’s the same racist tactics democrats have employed for decades to keep free thinking black men and women in line. Just short of bringing out the whip.

    1. I believe Rick and I have made the most scathing remarks and neither of us are Democrats.

You fail to understand that this man’s remarks are stupid, regardless of his race. I could care less what his race is. I also don’t care how “hard” he had it. Good on him as a person. That doesn’t qualify him for office, however, any more than Petraeus’s military record qualifies him for office.

      Re: Hussein

Knowing you, you were probably being a smart ass.

You can rant on what about what a racist I am over Carson. When I get tired of it, I will bring out that video you hate and that will be that.

  36. Jackson Bills

I’m sure if it came to it they could just bring out the whip to keep black men and women in line. They would only have to go to democrat hero Robert Byrd’s house and dust off his KKK grand wizard uniform for the men.
For the women they would just employ the democrat hero Ted Kennedy’s method of killing them. Either or they are good at what they do…

    1. Remember that video? You are being obnoxious and divisive. Knock it off.

  37. Lyssa

Like I said at the top. There’s so much to work with…..

He’s a skilled surgeon no doubt but as someone said how that transfers to governance has not been answered. Then again, how many elected politicians actually govern?

  38. Scout

It may be that the extraordinary knowledge demands of his profession explain why he seems so utterly clueless about more pedestrian issues like history and governance. He certainly does say some completely wacky, counterfactual things.

    1. Then someone ought to point out that he is out of his element and to go back to surgery.

  39. blue

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, yes, these are the stupid things that Dr. Carson speaks of that riles the democrats. Well, let’s be fair, its only that Dr. Carson seeks these things through individual effort and not through the Government that riles Democrats and other progressive socialists. He has, for example, claimed that the growing national debt and ISIS are dangers that can destroy us. Wow. In a Fox News interview, he said he would “not hesitate to put boots on the ground” and he called Obamacare the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery because it puts the government in control of your health care. He is certsaily not competent to make a coment like that. And yes, he has said a lot of non-thinking things for democrats, like when he called the Obamacare savings projections a piece of crap or that American dependence on welfare has increased under Obama, not due to the economy but through the expansion of benefits. Ya think! He also suggested that Obama’s executive action on immigration was part of a “nefarious agenda” to bring new voters into the United States who will be dependent on government and supportive of the demogods progressive socialist agenda over the long term. Nobody else believes that. I mean his father was talking about that, registered communist that he was. Nope, he a dummy alright.

  40. Wolve

I would say that the obnoxiousness around here started when a very intelligent and accomplished American was referred to in this thread as a clown and as mentally challenged….and continued right on down to #51.

  41. blue

But then who are we to compare Carson to… Democrats like Hillory or maybe to Obama himself, you pick. I mean, Obama has visited 57 States in an Administration without even a smidgeon of corruption. This is a man that tells us that we won’t negotiate with terrorists, that the IRS is not targeting anyone, that Benghazi was about a movie, that he will restore trust in Government, that whistle blowers will be protected – forget Gov.employees how about journalists like Rosen – or that we got back every dime used to rescue the Banks. Then there are the really fun ones like I will close Gitmo, you can keep your family doctor, premiums will be lowered by $2500, I will cut the deficit in half in 3 1/2 years or I’m not an ideologue. But the ones I like the best and I am sure I am fogetting a few are those that he surrounds himself with, like Valerie Jarrett, Sharpton, the very reverend Wright, and Bill Ayers or that no lobbyists will be in his administration. If you don’t look at this with a sense of humor and loss for our country, your not paying attention.

    1. I would be comparing Carson to Republicans. Do you not see a strong deficiency when you compare him to say, Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio? While I don’t necessarily agree with either, they aren’t irrational.

President Obama hasn’t hung out with Bill Ayers nor Reverend Wright. He also isn’t running for re-election. Why do you all keep droning on about this? I have known for years that you hate Obama. That’s old news.

  42. Rick Bentley

Wolve, I have no problem with black conservatism. I tend to agree with John McWhorter about most things, and with Thomas Sowell about many. I don’t approve of the marginalization efforts directed against Clarence Thomas.

    But Carson’s just stupid.

  43. Rick Bentley

Anyone who thinks that homosexuality is contageous is stupid.

Anyone who sees a significant change of martial law precluding an American election in 2016 is paranoic.

Anyone who compares Obamacare to slavery is irresponsible.

Anyone who does/says all three, and runs for President, is a clown.

    1. Totally agree Rick.

Why are supposedly intelligent people defending the clown?

  44. blue

In comparing Carson with Bush or Rubio, I see that you are hoping for an establishment Republican or one of a minority group still in his 1st term in Washington. Republicans have indeed run establishment candidates ever since Reagan and it really has not worked out that well for Republicans or for the Country – even if you argue that the Democratic alternative would have been a lot worse. The last time a freshman ran and was elected it turned out to be a disaster. Rubio has promise, but needs time to season. Unlike you, I am much more leery of professional politicians – much less those known to be corrupt. I am not inclined to believe that in America we need to create an historical dynasty either.

Regardless of his background, neurosurgery aint home repair. I think those that throw around terms like clown, irresponsible, stupid, hate or racism are the problem. Its like the child who covers their ears not wanting to hear the parent telling them to go to bed and yelling nah,nah nah nah. Carson is no dummy and he knows he can not be elected, but he has to be demonized before those in his community – who appreciate his story of success – hear and think about what he is saying and how it worked for him. The problem with Carson as was eluded to here in another post, is that given all we have been through this year – he could begin to take folks off the Democrat Plantation.

    1. Blue, once again you are intentionally insulting. I hope you don’t think you are impressing anyone here. You aren’t.

  45. Rick Bentley

blue, you are in a dream world if you think Carson is the guy to siphon black voters into the GOP. Happy dreaming.

Rand Paul’s the guy who might make a few inroads in that direction.

  46. Jackson Bills

    Rick Bentley :
Anyone who thinks that homosexuality is contageous is stupid.

    Moon-howler :
President Obama hasn’t hung out with Bill Ayers nor Reverend Wright. That’s old news.

I see, I suppose one could argue that sitting in Reverend Wrights pews for 20+ yeas doesn’t technically qualify as ‘hanging out’ with the guy. And I suppose after visiting Reverend Wright ever week for decades and then having the anti-Semite officiate you wedding isn’t hanging out. Heck, one could even argue that having the blatant antisemitic Reverend Wright baptize your two children doesn’t count as ‘hanging’ out with him. Besides, who the hell would ever hang out with a guy you see every week for over 20 years who you then have marry you at your wedding as well as baptize your children?

“I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community.” – Obama

Yep, they never hung out (eye roll)

    1. I said PRESIDENT Obama. He and Wright had a falling out before he became president. So wipe the smart ass off your face.

I don’t like wright any more than the next guy.

  47. Scout

The Republican field seems to expand by the day. It can’t hurt to have someone as respected and accomplished as Dr. Carson in the mix, despite his incredible lack of information about political and historic topics. Even in years with smaller arrays of candidates, there always have been outliers who somehow help define those who finally come out on top. A big field with a wide variety of entrants has a chance of producing a strong candidate at the end. I’m looking forward to watching how this all shakes out.
