Fox News’ Glenn Beck has drawn the ire of the Daily Beastand the Anti-Defamation League for his remarks about billionaire George Soros. Beck, in a week-long attack on Soros, has gone over the top by accusing the billionaire of anti-Semitism and actions against Jews during WWII.
To inoculate himself against charges of anti-Semitism, Beck hurled them at Soros, pointing out that he’s an atheist and a critic of Israel. He accused Soros of helping Nazis steal Jewish property as a teenager and of feeling no remorse about it. In fact, when Soros was 14 in Nazi-occupied Hungary, his father bribed an agriculture official to pretend that the boy was his Christian godson. Soros once had to accompany his protector to inventory a confiscated Jewish estate. Asked by 60 Minutes if he felt guilty about it, he said no, because he wasn’t at fault. The slander that he was a Nazi collaborator has proliferated on the right ever since.
Meanwhile, while airing all these charges, Beck made stupid faces and mimicked Soros and his organizations that provide food and shelter to desperately poor people. To date, there have been 3 shows devoted to Soros-bashing. Beck has not hold back. He calls Soros “The Puppetmaster,” and has puppets Beck handles himself. The Anti-Defamation League has weighed in on these shows.
Governor Brewer admits that this administration is doing more towards securing the border than the previous administration. Yet she turns on her heel and states that the federal government is not doing its job. The governor got twice as many border guards as she asked for.
John Kings asks the same question I have been asking: How does SB 1070 help with border control? Gov. Brewer cannot ask the question. Yet, the good governor keeps using the need for border control as justification for needing to enforce SB 1070. It still seems like Brewer’s tenacity centers on getting re-elected.
The logic seems to be missing. Apparently Judge Bolton has been getting threats! Read more…
I had the privilege of attending a SPECTACULAR event last evening at the Kennedy Center – ADL’s 15th Annual Concert Against Hate.
The Masters of Ceremonies included Liev Schreiber and Gabriel Byrne. Their presentation was flawless and the introductions of the different honorees was beyond touching.
In between recognizing the honorees, the National Symphony Orchestra played under the direction of Emil de Cou, who appeared larger than life as he commanded the performance.
This Year’s Honorees included:
Tom Self – A newspaper photographer in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham News who photographed the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church that killed four African-American girls.
Mindy Finkelstein – A counselor who survived an attack at North Valley Jewish Community Center in Los Angeles, where a neo-Nazi opened fire.
Joseph Ileto – A postal service employee gunned down by the same neo-Nazi responsible for the shooting at the Jewish Community Center for looking ‘Asian or Hispanic’.
Ilsa & Lisa Klinghoffer – The daughters of Leon Klinghoffer, who in 1985 was murdered aboard the Archille Lauro by the Palestinian Liberation Organization(PLO) because he was Jewish.
Help Save Manassas made it on the SPLC’s unflattering “nativist” list. But what about the Anti-Defamation League(ADL)? The ADL does not address Help Save Manassas directly but they do speak to the immigration issue in general.
Here is what they have to say -
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which previously has documented how extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis have exploited the immigration issue to advance their own agenda, has become increasingly concerned about the virulent anti-immigrant and anti-Hispanic rhetoric employed by a handful of groups that have positioned themselves as legitimate, mainstream advocates against illegal immigration in America.
