Much is happening in the world that I just don’t have the understand to discuss. Let’s go with an open thread so the contributors will have a place to discuss all the wiki-leaks and Scotland-gate, Afghanistan, Senator Webb’s backlash. That way we can keep the other threads on topic. Here is the spot for the free for all.
Good news! The oil leak cap has so far held. Oil is not pouring out into the ocean. It is too soon to start cheering however. The new cap has to withstand the pressure.
More good news–the Fincical Reform Bill has passed Congress. Next stop, the Prez’s desk for signature.
What else is happening?
The weekly open thread is here, ready and up and running.
Sorry the weekly open thread is so late.
Here you go. It is hotter than hell out there. The BP leak is still going strong. The primaries are over.
Prince William County and Manassas people needs to start following the money. A good place to start is www.vpap.org
Check out all your favorite politicians.

Friday, might as well make the open thread move along during the week. All that is required is to change the date on the post.
The USA plays Slovenia at 10 am our time. The USA is favored to win. Germany is currently playing Serbia. Those hideous horns are swarming in the background. The score is 0-0.

Let’s start off a new week with the promised open thread.
There is some very sad county news. Details to follow.
I hear Bob Fitzsimmonds has posted that he is running for state senator again. How many times has this guy lost already? He is not a mainstream candidate. I expect Senator Colgan will have to hang in there even longer if this is going to happen.
I will get an email if I don’t put this bad boy up. I hope everyone had a good weekend.
Our open thread is late this week. There is just need for some tidbit room today.
First off, did anyone catch the hearings regarding the oil leak? The families who spoke of the 11 who were killed on the was just heart breaking. Those 11 lives lost have been overshadowed because of the magnitude of the ecological disaster. Meanwhile these families and friends mourn the loss of their loved ones.
Speaking of rolling thunder, that storm last night was horrific. I got wind, lightning, and lots of hail. I thought the hail was going to break the windows.
There is a superior interactive section about those who have lost their lives in Iraq and Afganistan at CCN. Please check it out. Very worthwhile. I found the soldiers from Prince William County there also.
Per the promise, the weekly open thread. How long will the rain last this week? When will the oil spill be fixed? Who will win the primaries today? Inaquiring minds want to know.
I would like to say there is no news, but sorry, that isn’t true. Sorry this is late going up. Enjoy.
Nothing new around these parts. I hear the bus loads are coming in to protest something. Must be a joke. Surely Corey isn’t passing another Resolution.
And to all those who seem to think that moonhowlings.com has something going on with AZ, we are NOT the news. It seems to be that on-going reading comprehension problem that is causing rumors.
Enjoy the week.
By special request and plus we promised one a week. Formerly finished his taxes and is loaded for bear. I hope *I* don’t look like a bear.
There is all sorts of news–too much to choose from. There is an Open Carry Demonstration in a park and the are people stranded all over the globe because of the volcano. Daniel Gilbert of Manassas won a Pulitizer Prize for his work on mining. Brian Betts of Manassas lost his life.
The Democrats in NC are splintering into various factions over health care and the Taliban is recruiting new members to settle old family scores on our dime.
Pick a topic or make up your own.
Sorry, I forgot to put this up. I promised an open thread weekly for all those things that fit no where else.
Everyone getting their taxes done? Groan!
It appears that the least open thread has scrolled off the front page. It’s easy to make a new one. The movie idea didn’t go over so well. We can try it again sometime. Meanwhile, Doubt is an excellent film if you haven’t seen it. Apparently some viewers got the wrong idea about its intent. The film was very much about gossip and its consequences. Maybe Rick will have more time this week to lead a discussion. He is our resident movie critic.
