From www.politicususa.com:

Beck played a clip of Stewart asking how the Occupy Wall Street protesters aren’t like the tea party, and said, “How long do you have Jon? You’ve only got a half hour show. I’ve got a two hour show, and I can’t fit it in two hour, Jon. Open your eyes, you moron. Stu said, Yeah, but if you just say it, and the crowd laughs, it’s true that makes it true. They’re the same. They’re exactly the same. How are they different? They’re talking about killing and cannibalizing the rich. Just like the tea party.” Beck chimed in, “They’re talking about revolution in the streets and destroying the entire system, just like the tea party.” Stu said, “Remember when the tea party talked about Google Jews and how evil they are?” Beck came back with more insults for Stewart, “It must be true, you dope. You know Jon Stewart; I have absolutely no respect for you. You are not a thinking man at all.”

There are a couple people not to mess with on here. One is Bill Clinton and the other is Jon Stewart. I might have to add Steve Jobs to the list but so far, he is not on there. This was Glenn Beck and crew’s response to the video segment on the Daily Show entitled Parks and Demonstration.

Glenn Beck basically has no class. He is coarse and common and it is wonderful that he is no longer on Fox News. Actually the gang of 5 who replaced him are doing a pretty decent job. Of course, they profit by comparison. The first thing Beck needs to do is grow up. Maybe his wife can help him work on acquiring some class. His bishop needs to get hold of him. No Mormon I have ever known has acted like this.

Jon Stewart is probably smirking right now. Go Jon.

What I don’t understand is how Beck can go on Faux News at 5 almost as the Reverend Mr. Beck and talk about honor and humility, then have a radio show where this type of behavior is often the order of the day. Why would he make fun of someone’s personal appearance (he should be so lucky!) or make fun of a serious message about a killer disease?

Mock vomiting over a person is simply adolescent. The sooner his business dries up, the better. He owes the McCain family an apology. Time to grow up, Glenny.

Glenn Beck set his sights on a new target on his Thursday show: “Glee.”

Speaking before a live studio audience, Beck said that “our whole culture is set up right now for you and the values we grew up with to lose.” He used “Glee” as an example.

“I’ve watched it in stunned horror combined with a sense of admiring awe,” he said. “It is a brilliant brilliant show…but it is a horror show…everybody in here is somebody your kids would want to be like, except everyone is sleeping with everyone else, it’s all about self-gratification…it’s a nightmare.”

However, he said the skill with which the show was made meant that “there is no way to beat this.

Is Glenn Beck nuts? Glee is probably one of the most redeeming show there is about young people. Is Beck naive? He admits to watching 2 of the shows. He needs to watch more before commenting. In the first place, all the Glee kids aren’t beautiful. They are talented. Each person represents a demographic of typical high school. Is there hyberpole? Yes. Perhaps the most exaggerated character is Sue Sylvester who is just meaner than a rattle snake. We have all worked with such people–the person at work who is always trying to ‘get’ someone.

I have never watched Glee that it didn’t teach a strong lesson. We aren’t going to learn lessons in shows like Pollyanna. Glee is contemporary and explores current topics. Beck really needs to get a life. There is so much worse on TV that has half the talent. He would bitch and cry if it starred Mother Teresa.

Civil rights’ new ‘owner’: Glenn Beck

By Dana Milbank
Sunday, August 29, 2010

There is a telling anecdote in Glenn Beck’s 2003 memoir about how the cable news host was influenced by the great fantasist Orson Welles. To travel between performances in Manhattan, Beck recounts, Welles hired an ambulance, sirens blaring, to ferry him around town — not because Welles was ill but because he wanted to avoid traffic.

Most of us would regard this as dishonest, a ploy by the self-confessed charlatan that Welles was. Beck saw it as a model to be emulated. “Welles,” he writes, “inspired me to believe that I can create anything that I can see or imagine.”

I was reminded of Beck’s affection for deception as he hyped his march on Washington — an event scheduled for the same date (Aug. 28) and on the same spot (the Lincoln Memorial) as Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic march 47 years ago. Beck claimed it was pure coincidence, but then he made every effort to appropriate the mantle of the great civil rights leader.

Beck as the fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream? And you thought “War of the Worlds” was frightening.

It’s been just over a year since Beck famously called the first African American president a “racist” with a “deep-seated hatred for white people.” And now, accused of racial pot-stirring, he apparently has determined that the best defense is to be patently offensive.

“Blacks don’t own Martin Luther King,” he tells us, any more than whites own Lincoln or Washington. “The left” doesn’t own King, either, he says.

No, Beck owns King. “This is the moment, quite honestly, that I think we reclaim the civil rights movement,” he said this spring. “We are on the right side of history. We are on the side of individual freedoms and liberties and, damn it, we will reclaim the civil rights moment. We will take that movement because we are the people that did it in the first place.”

We are? Let’s review Beck’s history as a civil rights pioneer, a history I’ve studied while writing a book about Beck.

When Beck was a radio host in Connecticut in the 1990s, his station apologized for an on-air skit in which Beck and his partner mocked an Asian American caller and used their version of an Asian accent. As a CNN host a couple of years ago, Beck interviewed Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), the first Muslim elected to Congress, and challenged him to “prove to me that you are not working with our enemies.”

President Obama, who Beck says was elected because he isn’t white, is “moving all of us quickly in slavery,” Beck has asserted. On his radio show, he declared that “you don’t take the name Barack to identify with America. . . . You take the name Barack to identify with . . . the heritage, maybe, of your father in Kenya, who is a radical.” He accused Obama of seeking “reparations” from white America, seeking to “settle old racial scores.”

Beck has spoken on air about “radical black nationalism” in the White House and “Marxist black liberation theology” influencing Obama. He has further determined that the New Black Panthers have “ties to the White House in a myriad of ways” and are part of Obama’s “army of thugs.”

This is not quite the ideal background for a man who would claim to be King’s heir — and that’s where Orson Welles comes in.

First, Beck employed the hand of God in justifying his decision to co-opt King. He said he chose the date without knowing it was the anniversary of King’s march, claiming it happened because of “divine providence.”

Second, he invoked some selective history, using his Fox News show to deliver a three-part series updating the history of the civil rights movement. “How has the Democratic Party assumed the mantle of defender of minorities, if you know their early history?” he asked. “Dating to Andrew Jackson — this is the 17th century . . . .”

Seventeenth century, 19th century, whatever. He informed viewers that “it was the GOP that took the lead on the civil rights” cause.

Finally, Beck updated the meaning of the civil rights movement so that it is no longer about black people; it is about protecting anti-tax conservatives from liberals. Civil rights leaders, he said, “purposely distorted Martin Luther King’s ideas.” Over the past century, Beck reasons, “no man has been free, because we’ve been progressive.” To his followers, he says: “We are the people of the civil rights movement.”

All that is left is for Beck to drive around town by ambulance.

danamilbank@washpost.com

There is just something horribly annoying about Beck’s proclamations of innocence regarding the date. Even more annoying is his attempt to claim some sort of perverted ownership of the civil rights movement. He needs to leave it alone. Not only do many black folks feel that he and his kind have attempted to hi jack the civil rights movement, so do a lot of white people. I learned a long time ago to take the high road on some issues. This is one of them.

If Beck is truly interested in furthering civil rights he needed to have started out a long time ago, before he committed so many faux pas in that department. Furthermore, he does not have the right to redefine the heart and soul of the civil rights movement. He is a middle age white man who had nothing to do with the real movement. He was not even born when the I have a Dream speech was originally made. He doesn’t even qualify as an honorary member of the Civil Rights Club, not with the remarks he has made.

Note (from the Washington Post): Dana Milbank’s book, “Tears of a Clown: Glenn Beck and the Tea Bagging of America,” will be published Oct. 5.

Saturday, August 28, 2011 is the big Glenn Beck Restoring Honor Rally. It will be held at the Lincoln Memorial.

Yahoonews.com:

Beck, a popular figure among tea party activists and a polarizing Fox News Channel personality, is headlining the event, and Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and a potential 2012 president candidate, will be a prominent speaker. But Beck told his television audience again on Thursday that it’s not about politics.

The event’s website says the rally is to pay tribute to America’s military personnel and others “who embody our nation’s founding principles of integrity, truth and honor.” It also is to promote the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which provides scholarships and services to family members of military members.

The website urges citizens to attend and “help us restore the values that founded this great nation.”

How can anything featuring Sarah Palin not be about politics? She is the embodiment of politics.

I am not sure what values Beck is celebrating or restoring. I doubt that values founded the nation. People with ideas and strong backs founded the nation. He says he is restoring honor. Whose honor? Beck bothers me because he is arrogant yet humble. He feels he needs to impart his great knowledge. He is often wrong. Of course, history is open to interpretation. Beck is living a 12 step program.

Beck rails against social justice at every opportunity and sings the praises of MLK. No one was for social justice more than MLK. Obviously Beck hasn’t made this connection yet. I am not sure how blacks feel about him going to the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary of the I have a Dream speech, which is probably the best known speech of MLK. Of course, the Lincoln Memorial belongs to all Americans.

Beck has quite a following. I believe he is one of the darlings of the tea party. I just think he is emotional and bizarre. Hopefully his rally will be all he wants it to be. The eyes of America are on this event, if for no other reason, curiosity.

Meanwhile, according to the Christian Science Monitor:

On Tuesday’s show….Glenn Beck said President Obama does not conform to ‘true’ Christian beliefs, but holds views akin to Marxist aligned liberation theology.

How low can Beck go? In the first place, many people would argue that Beck himself is not Christian because he is Mormon. (I always thought saying Mormons weren’t Christian was pure silliness.) In the second place, whose place is it to judge someone else’s Christianity? Certainly not Beck’s place. He needs to stick to healing himself. It’s probably the arrogant self-righteousness that bothers me the most. Judge not, lest ye be judged seems to be the appropriate response here.

Much of the unemployment situation depends on location. Those of us living in Northern Virginia are fortunate. We haven’t been hit as hard as other localities.

Was Beck lacking sensitivity? Is it fair to attack people for being unemployed after 99 weeks?

From Huffingtonpost.com:

On his Monday radio show, Glenn Beck highlighted claims that before he started targeting a little-known, left-leaning organization called the Tides Foundation on his Fox News TV show, “nobody knew” what the non-profit was.

Indeed, for more than a year Beck has been portraying the progressive organization as a central player in a larger, nefarious cabal of Marxist/socialist/Nazi Obama-loving outlets determined to destroy democracy in America. Beck has routinely smeared the low-profile entity for being staffed by “thugs” and “bullies” and involved in “the nasty of the nastiest,” like indoctrinating schoolchildren and creating a “mass organization to seize power.”

As Media Matters reported, the conspiratorial host had mentioned (read: attacked) the little-known progressive organization nearly 30 times on his Fox program alone since it premiered in 2009, including several mentions in the last month. (Beck’s the only TV talker who regularly references the foundation, according to our Nexis searches.)

So yes, Beck has done all he can to scare the hell out of people about the Tides Foundation and “turn the light of day” onto an organization that actually facilitates non-profit giving.

And guess what? Everybody in America would have found out about the Tides Foundation last week if Byron Williams had had his way. He’s the right-wing, government-hating, gun-toting nut who strapped on his body armor, stocked a pickup truck with guns and ammo, and set off up the California coast to San Francisco in order to start killing employees at the previously obscure Tides Foundation in hopes of sparking a political revolution.

Thankfully, the planned domestic terrorist attack never came to pass because California Highway Patrol officers pulled Williams over for drunk driving on his way to his killing spree. Williams quickly opened fire, wounding two officers during a lengthy shootout. Luckily, Williams wasn’t able to act out the ultimate goal of his dark anger — fueled by the TV news he watched — about how “Congress was railroading through all these left-wing agenda items,” as his mother put it. Williams wasn’t able to open fire inside the offices of the Tides Foundation, an organization “nobody knew” about until Glenn Beck started targeting it.

Who is Byron Williams, what was his plan and how was he stopped?

According to CNSnews:

OAKLAND, Calif. (CBS/KPIX/AP) A California man accused in a shootout with California Highway Patrol officers in Oakland early Sunday told officials that he traveled to San Francisco and planned to attack two nonprofit groups there “to start a revolution,” according to a probable cause statement released by police.

Bryon Williams, 45, a convicted felon with two prior bank robbery convictions, targeted workers at the American Civil Liberties Union and the Tides Foundation, said Oakland police Sgt. Michael Weisenberg in court documents.

Officer Jeff Thomason, an Oakland police spokesman, claimed Williams targeted the two nonprofit organizations because of their political ideologies. The Tides Foundation works to advance progressive social change, according to its Web site.

Williams was pulled over for speeding and weaving through traffic Saturday night on an Oakland highway. California Highway Patrol officers say once they approached his truck they found Williams alone, donning a bulletproof vest and armed with three guns, including a rifle.

Police say Williams armed himself with a handgun and started to exchange fire with the officers, and a 12-minute shootout followed. More officers responded after Williams reportedly reloaded three different guns inside his truck, reported CBS affiliate KPIX. After the exchange two CHP officers were taken to a hospital where they were treated for minor injuries. Williams was admitted to a hospital and treated for gunshot wounds to his arms and legs.

If a radio or TV personality continually rails against an individual or an organization, night after night, and that message is listened to by an unstable individual, there are bound to be negative consequences. Beck gets on his show and hisses, blubbers, cries, and acts out against the current administration, Congress, members of congress, the President, the Tides, the ACLU, ACORN, Soros, just to name a few of his hit list. Beck needs to tone it down before there are unalterable consequences. Maybe while he is down on his knees, he needs to speak to his Lord about bearing false witness. He really is out of control. Fox News needs to rein him in. Need we say more?

Fox News has developed a reputation for being foot loose and fancy free with the truth. This anything goes with accuracy of facts is hurting their reputation and making them very much the laughing stock. It is one thing to take an alternative opinion, but that news organization needs to tell the truth, then take issue.
